Founded in 1926 as Quirk Tire by Edward S. Quirk Sr. in Massachusetts, VIP has expanded to more than 75 New England locations with over 800 employees, serving multiple generations of customers
AUBURN, Maine — Today, VIP Tires & Service — northern New England’s leader in all things tires and service — announced the start of its 100-year anniversary celebration, commemorating the company’s original founding in 1926 and its countless contributions to the region over the decades. Since VIP’s founding as Quirk Tire by Edward S. Quirk Sr. in Watertown, Massachusetts, VIP has expanded across New England, now serving customers in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut and Massachusetts.
To highlight VIP’s century in business, the company’s website will be updated with contests, videos, and other celebrations throughout the year, with more event details to come. The new website will also include a timeline of the most important moments involving Quirk Tire and VIP Discount Auto Centers (founded by Thomas Auger in Lewiston, ME in 1958), which was acquired by Quirk Tire in 2001 and then rebranded as VIP Tires & Service in 2012.

As part of the 100-year celebration, VIP is proud to showcase the key decision-makers and longtime team members who have made VIP what it is today — from Massachusetts to Maine and everywhere in between. These VIP leaders include but are not limited to John Quirk, Tim Winkeler, Scott Pickard, Mary Daigle, Gary MacCausland, Ann Maroon, Robert Kaffel and Albert “Robbie” Robbins.
“This is a tremendous milestone for VIP Tires & Service and the communities we serve,” said VIP Executive Chairman John Quirk. “To celebrate a century of success in business, especially in such a competitive field and navigating various economic situations dating back to the 1920s, is something we don’t take lightly. It is an honor to have gained so much trust from so many generations of customers over the decades, and we are humbled by the opportunity to keep earning that trust over and over again. As VIP looks ahead to the next 100 years, our commitment remains very much the same: Serve customers to the very best of our ability, providing the expertise they need. We encourage everyone to stay tuned as the celebrations continue throughout 2026.”
