Brake Line & Hose Repair

Schedule Service

A failed brake line or hose will result in your brakes not working. Why? Because they deliver the hydraulic brake fluid and pressure that power the calipers that press together on the brake rotors to slow or stop your car.

Brake fluid lines and hoses wear out over time. Depending on the type and materials they are made of, they may even break, collapse, or leak.

VIP’s certified automotive professionals will check your brake lines and hoses and make recommendations for repair or replacement as needed.

  • VIP will check your brakes for FREE.

Helpful Hints

Signs Your Brake Lines or Hoses Are Compromised

Your brake lines or hoses may need repair or replacement if:

  • You notice leaking brake fluid
  • The brake pedal feels spongy or squishy when you step on it
  • The brake warning light is on
  • There is corrosion on brake lines
  • Tapping on the brakes causes a high-pitched noise
  • Your steering wheel shakes
  • Your car is taking longer to stop

What To Do If Your Brakes Fail

If your brakes fail, do the following:

  • Stay calm
  • Downshift to a lower gear
  • Warn other drivers you are in trouble by activating your emergency flashers and honking
If you have anti-lock brakes, press firmly on the brake pedal. If you don’t, pump the brake pedal fast and hard.
  • If the brakes don’t work after doing the above, gradually engage the parking brake and be prepared for your vehicle to skid
  • While doing the above, steer your vehicle into the right lane or shoulder if you can. Keep driving straight until it comes to a complete stop.
  • If you are going at highway speed when your brakes fail and are next to a highway divider, consider carefully running your car up alongside the divider. The friction will help to slow it down.
