Policies

VIP’s policies reflect our commitment to providing our customers with the best automotive maintenance, repair, and tire service experience.

VIP 200% Lowest Price Tire Promise

At VIP, we check the prices of tires at our competitors every week, and promise to always have the lowest price on any tire. We stand behind our promise with our 200% Lowest Price Tire Promise, which is that if you find a verifiable lower price on an identical tire at any competitor, we will beat the price when you have your tires installed at VIP and give you a VIP Gift Card* for Double the Difference! Just show us the competitor’s price quote, advertisement, or website price, or we can call the competitor to verify the price for you. (For Internet Retailers the competitive price must include all shipping & handling charges. Applies only to tires that we have listed for sale on our website). All competitor prices on sale items are valid only during the sale period, and written quotes are valid for 30 days from the quote date. (* Gift Card cannot be used on the same transaction as the tire purchase/installation.)

VIP 30 Day Ride Guarantee

Your satisfaction is our goal at VIP. If within the first 30 days of your tire purchase, you are not completely satisfied with your new tires, simply come back and we’ll credit the amount you spent on tires toward the purchase of any new tires at VIP of equal or greater value. Mounting and balancing your replacement tires will be free.

Tire Changeovers

If you’re like many other VIP customers who run dedicated winter tires, we have a way to save you money so you’ll never pay for a seasonal tire changeover again! Every set of tires purchased from VIP comes with free mounting and dismounting for the life of the tires. And, when you also purchase VIP’s Tire Maintenance Plus++ on your new tires, we will re-balance those tires for free for the life of the tires. If your tires were purchased from VIP without Tire Maintenance Plus++, then you’ll just pay for re-balancing each time. If you have a set of tires that were not purchased from VIP, then you’ll pay for mounting and re-balancing each time.

Two New Tires

Based on testing by leading tire manufacturers and vehicle safety experts, the safest arrangement is to always install the newest tires or the tires with the deepest tread depth on the rear axle of your vehicle. Your safety is our #1 priority, so it’s VIP’s policy too. Two new tires always go on the rear.

VIP Tire Maintenance Plus++

When you purchase VIP’s Tire Maintenance Plus++, you get peace of mind and added protection for your tires. The plan covers your tires if they are damaged due to: road hazard, impact break, glass cut, or potholes.

Repairable tires will be repaired free of charge, including free mounting and free balancing.

Tires that cannot be repaired will be replaced on a prorated basis according to the following terms and conditions:

Tires damaged within the first six months of purchase or 25% of tread wear, whichever comes first, will be repaired or replaced for free. Tires damaged after this period will be prorated based on the original price purchased and applied as a credit toward the price of the replacement tire. The tire must have at least 2/32” of tread remaining across the entire tread area. This will be validated by measurement with a tread depth gauge in three places across the tire tread.

Tires that have been damaged by misalignment, lack of rotation, improper inflation, mechanical defect from the vehicle, off-road use, an automobile accident, fire, theft, or malicious acts are not guaranteed.

All you pay is the installation cost and optional Tire Protection on the replacement tire.

VIP’s Tire Maintenance Plus++ is not transferable and excludes fleet or commercial vehicles. You must present your original Work Order with the register receipt for verification. Applicable Taxes, Environmental Fees, and Shop Supplies will be charged.

Tire Warranties and Prorating Guidelines

To get the longest life and best performance from your tires, always follow your vehicle manufacturer’s tire maintenance recommendations. This generally includes checking air inflation monthly, frequent tire rotations (usually between 5,000 – 7,000 miles), and ensuring that your wheels are in proper alignment. Failure to follow these recommendations can result in shortened tire life as well as decreased performance. VIP offers a Tire Protection Plan to help protect you against accidental damage caused to your tires (see above). Your tire may also be covered under one or more warranties offered by the tire manufacturer, or VIP.

Mileage Warranty – This is a specific mileage-based warranty that covers you if your tires wear out prematurely based on miles driven. It applies to tires installed on the original vehicle they were purchased for, and is based on normal, expected wear conditions and patterns. Tires that wear out prematurely due to lack of tire rotations, improper inflation, or vehicle misalignment are not covered. Tires eligible for mileage warranty will be prorated based on miles used.

Manufacturer Defect Warranty -This is a warranty that may be time-based or mileage-based depending on the tire manufacturer’s policies. This warranty covers you against defects as a result of the manufacturing process. Eligibility will be determined by inspection of the tire by the manufacturer. Tires eligible for manufacturer’s warranty may either be prorated based on tread depth or replaced without cost depending on the specific tire manufacturer’s policies.

Prorating – To calculate prorated credits based on tread depth, we use the following formula: current tread depth minus 2/32” divided by the new tread depth minus 2/32” times the original purchase price of the tire, net any discounts. The resulting credits will be credited to your purchase of replacement tires. Measurements are taken at three points across the tread. The lowest tread depth measurement is used for prorating. Tires with 2/32” or less tread at any point across the tread will not be prorated. You must present your original Work Order along with the register receipt for verification.

Factory Four Wheel Alignments and Warranties

The standard VIP wheel alignment comes with a warranty for three months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first. During the warranty period, as often as necessary, VIP will check and correct your wheel alignment, inspect your vehicle’s steering and suspension components, tire condition and air pressure, rotate your tires, and road test your vehicle for you. You must present your original Work Order along with the register receipt for verification. The price does not include any required adjustment shims, cam bolts, or other specialty alignment parts and labor. Applicable Taxes, Environmental Fees, and Shop Supplies will be charged.

VIP Warranty on Installed Parts

VIP offers you a warranty on most installed parts. The warranty for the part we install for you will be listed on your sales invoice. If a part fails that is under warranty, VIP will replace it free of charge. Warranty return will be on an exchange basis. You must return the part with original register receipt. Warranties only apply to the original purchaser for private, non-commercial use, and only to the vehicle in which the product was originally installed. Neither warrantor nor manufacturer shall be liable for any incidental or consequential damages including without limitation, indirect and special damages resulting from defects in the product. This warranty does not cover miscellaneous expenses for removal, installation, service, towing or down time, nor does it cover material, labor, or additional parts required for replacement or repair of damages caused by abuse (including fire, vandalism, or wreckage), misuse, neglect, tampering, or failure to follow manufacturer’s operating and/or installation instructions. You must present your original Work Order along with the register receipt for verification. Applicable Taxes, Environmental Fees, and Shop Supplies will be charged. Limited to retail sales only and excludes fleet and commercial vehicles. VIP will not install parts supplied by our Customers.

VIP Labor Warranty

VIP stands behind our work with a labor warranty that matches the warranty on the installed part. Your part warranty will be listed on your invoice with your accompanying labor charges. So, if you have VIP install a premium part with a lifetime warranty, your labor warranty will also be for the lifetime of the part. If a part that is under warranty requires replacement, both the cost of the replacement part and the cost of installation labor will be free. Warranties vary by manufacturer and not all part warranties are lifetime. Failure caused by lack of proper maintenance, tampering, or damage from an accident, vandalism, or fire are not covered. Warranties are not transferable from the original purchaser or original installation vehicle. You must present your original Work Order along with the register receipt for verification. Limited to retail sales only, excludes fleet and commercial vehicles. Applicable Taxes, Environmental Fees, and Shop Supplies will be charged.

Manufacturers’ Standard Limited Warranty

Certain wearable products, parts, tires, and other retail products that are not covered by the VIP Lifetime Application Parts Warranty are covered by a Manufacturers’ Standard Limited Warranty. These warranties vary by manufacturer. Ask your VIP Service Advisor for help in determining your specific product, tires, service, or parts warranty.

Proper Tire Maintenance and Care

Proper tire maintenance is an important safety function that is often neglected. Tires are the only contact between your vehicle and the road. Please follow these important safety guidelines:

 Consult your owner’s manual prior to replacing any tires or rotating tires and follow the vehicle manufacturer’s tire replacement and rotation specifications.

 Replace your tires as recommended by the original equipment vehicle manufacturer and only use the proper original equipment size, speed rating, load range, and other performance specifications. ALL WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES need to follow strict manufacturers’ replacement guidelines. Consult your owner’s manual before choosing any tires as improperly matched replacement tires may cause serious mechanical damage including transmission and or drive-train failure.

 Check your tire pressure monthly. Consult your owner’s manual for proper inflation specifications.

 Most vehicle manufacturers recommend you properly rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,000 miles and have your wheels aligned at least once per year.

 If a tire is damaged, have it inspected by a Tire Industry Association (TIA) Certified outlet and follow recommended tire repair guidelines.

AT VIP, WE WILL INSPECT YOUR TIRES FOR FREE AT ANYTIME – NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY.

Proper Wheel Torque

After the first 25 miles of driving after your wheels have been removed and replaced, after driving on new wheels, or after new tire installations, you should re-torque the wheel lugs in case the clamping loads have changed following the initial installation. This is necessary due to the possibility of metal compression/elongation or thermal stresses affecting the wheels as they are breaking in, as well as to ensure the proper manufacturer’s torque specifications are maintained.

AT VIP, WE WILL RE-TORQUE YOUR WHEELS FOR FREE AT ANYTIME – NO APPOINTMENT NECESSARY.

Speed Rating Recommendation

Tires with a lower speed rating may vary in ride, handling, and/or other performance characteristics. Failure to follow the original equipment manufacturer’s (OEM) speed rating recommendations may adversely affect the handling of the vehicle, making it easier to lose control, leading to a serious or fatal accident. In general, replacement tires should have a speed rating equal to or greater than the speed rating of the OEM tires. Always consult your owner’s manual and follow Original Vehicle Manufactures speed rating guidelines.
