Helpful Hints
Tire Installation
Safe New Tire Installation

The safest tire arrangement is to always install the newest tires or the tires with the deepest tread depth on the rear axle of your vehicle according to testing by leading tire manufacturers and vehicle safety experts. Your safety is our #1 priority, so that’s VIP’s policy too.

tire installation with a wheel torque
Proper Wheel Torque

Your wheel lugs should be re-torqued in case they have become loose, which could cause a tire to roll off or warp your wheel rims, after the first 25 miles of driving after your wheels have been removed and replaced or after new tire installations. At VIP, we will re-torque your wheels for FREE at anytime.

FAQs

  • How much does tire installation cost?

At VIP, we charge $35 per tire to install tires. This does not include tire disposal, which is an extra $5 per tire.

  • Where should new tires go on my car? The front or the back?

If you’re only replacing two tires, the general rule is that the newest tires (or the ones with the deepest tread) should always go on the rear axel. This is based on testing from leading tire manufacturers and safety experts. It’s also VIP’s standard practice because it helps to keep your vehicle more stable and controllable, especially in wet or slippery condition (it helps to prevent fishtailing). This rule is also true for winter tires. At VIP, your safety is our top priority.

  • What is a wheel re-torque, and why do I need one after getting new tires, having my tires off, or getting a flat repair?

After your wheels have been removed and reinstalled (such as during a tire installation or repair) the lug nuts can settle and loosen slightly within the first 25 miles of driving. A wheel re-torque checks and tightens them back to spec, which helps prevent issues such as loose wheels, warped rims, or a losing a wheel while driving. At VIP, we’ll re-torque your tires for free, anytime — no appointment necessary!

  • What’s included when I get new tires installed at VIP?

There’s so much value with VIP! Every tire installation includes free tire safety inspection, free wheel re-torque, and the backing of our 30-day ride guarantee and 200% lowest tire price guarantee. You’ll also get free mounting and dismounting and free flat repair. The only thing you’ll need to pay is balancing, unless you have Tire Maintenance++. Plua, our Certified Automotive Professionals and ASE-certified technicians walk you through the work before it starts, and you’ll get a copy of your multi-point inspection sent right to your phone! At VIP, you’ll always know what’s going on with your vehicle.

  • What if I’m not happy with my new tires after they’re installed?

We’ve got you covered with your 30-day ride guarantee. If something’s not feeling right, bring your vehicle back within 30 days, and we’ll work with you to make it right. We want you to feel confident and satisfied with your tires. All-Season

All-Season tires are versatile and suitable for warm and cool climates, but not recommended for extreme hot or cold weather conditions because of specific rubber components.

All-Weather

Like their name suggests, all-weather tires are versatile and can perform well in a variety of weather conditions and can be severe snow-rated.

All-Terrain

With bigger treads than traditional all-season tires, all-terrain tires allow for both on and off-roading capabilities.

Winter

Winter tires are manufactured to perform well in snow, ice, sleet and other cold weather conditions. Winter tires are typically soft, with an intricate grooved tread pattern — made for holding compacted snow and creating traction — and are severe snow-rated.
