Car Air Conditioning Repair

Schedule Service

When your vehicle’s air conditioner (AC) isn’t blowing any air — or worse, is blowing warm, stale air — it makes for a sticky ride on a hot day and difficult to see on a foggy one since you can’t defog your windshield. When not taken care of, AC issues can cause costly compressor damage.

If you’re having AC problems, one of VIP’s Certified Automotive Professionals will inspect your vehicle’s air conditioning system for leaks as well as its blower and hoses to pinpoint the problem. He or she will explain any recommended AC repairs to your car or truck.

FAQs

  • Why is my car’s A/C not blowing cold air anymore?

Cars not blowing cold air can be a couple of different things and it’s important to figure out what the real issue is by getting it properly diagnosed. Sometimes, it’s not as easy as topping off refridgerant and there’s a more serious issue in the system. Common causes of your car’s A/C not working include low refridgerant, failing compressors, a leak somewhere in the system, or even just a clogged cabin air filter. You should have a Certified Automotive Professional look at your vehicle to give you a straight answer as to what your car needs. At VIP, you can always get a free visual A/C check.

  • Is it okay to just drive with the windows down instead of fixing my A/C?

You can, but it’s worth mentioning that your A/C not working properly is often a symptom of something more serious and can lead to bigger problems such as a refridgerant leak or could cause serious compressor damage which is a much more expensive repair. A/C issues should be looked at early in order to save you from more expensive repairs.

  • How do I know if my car’s A/C just needs a recharge or if it’s something more?

Often times, if your vehicle’s A/C is still blowing and you don’t smell a strange sweet scent and it just seems to not be quite as frosty as it once was, a refridgerant recharge might do the trick. But, if it’s stopped working completely, making an odd noise, or you smell something sweet or musty it’s likely there’s more going on than low refridgerant. Turn to VIP and our Certified Automotive Professionals can diagnose what’s going on in your system so you’re not just guessing or paying for something that won’t fix your actual problem.

  • What does a car A/C repair actually involve? What are you checking?

Great question and at VIP we’ll inspect your full A/C system which means your compressor, condenser, evaporator, refridgerant levels, hoses, and the electrical components. A/C systems have a lot of moving parts and they all need to be working properly to be efficient and keep you cool. Our Certified Automotive Professionals will tell you what’s good, what’s not, and what actually needs to be repaired so you’re not left guessing or out of the loop. And as always, we’ll get your approval before completing any work.

  • How long does a car A/C repar take and can I wait at the shop?

It depends on what’s needed, but our Certified Automotive Professionals will be communicative and let you know what to expect so you can be prepared. Simple repairs or recharges can often be done same day, but if it’s a more involved repair or there are multiple parts that need to come in it could be longer. Most of our locations are open 7 days a week so we’ll work around your schedule and make sure you know exactly what’s going on with your vehicle and when you can expect it will be done.

All-Season

All-Season tires are versatile and suitable for warm and cool climates, but not recommended for extreme hot or cold weather conditions because of specific rubber components.

All-Weather

Like their name suggests, all-weather tires are versatile and can perform well in a variety of weather conditions and can be severe snow-rated.

All-Terrain

With bigger treads than traditional all-season tires, all-terrain tires allow for both on and off-roading capabilities.

Winter

Winter tires are manufactured to perform well in snow, ice, sleet and other cold weather conditions. Winter tires are typically soft, with an intricate grooved tread pattern — made for holding compacted snow and creating traction — and are severe snow-rated.
