FAQs

  • Can I replace my car battery myself, or do I need a mechanic/technician’s help?

Yes, absolutely you can replace your own battery if you’re comfortable performing this repair. It’s one of the more straightforward DIY jobs. However, there are a few things worth knowing: some newer vehicles require a battery registration and/or a computer reset after a battery swap. Sometimes there is stubborn corrosion on the terminals that needs to be cleaned and addressed before the new battery goes in. Incorrectly installing a battery can damage your vehicle, causing anything from blown fuses to alternator damage to damaging your car’s internal computer. If you have any questions, our team at VIP is happy to handle the replacement and give you peace of mind that it’s done right.

  • What size or type of battery does my car need?

The battery you need depends on the Year/Make/Model of your vehicle and can vary even by trim level. Our live chat team and in-store teams are happy to help you find the answer for your specific vehicle through quotes, calls, and chats.

  • Why does my car battery keep dying?

If you haven’t recently left the lights on or played the radio while the vehicle was off, and you keep experiencing a dead battery, then there’s a deeper problem. It could be the battery itself, but it could also be other issues such as a bad alternator, parasitic drain, or even just hot/cold weather sapping the strength of your battery. It’s best to get a diagnostic done to know for sure.

  • How do I know if my car battery needs to be replaced?

At VIP, every time you come in for service we test your battery so you can be confident that, when you turn the key (or press the button, or use an app!), your vehicle will start. In between services, look for signs that your battery might be nearing the end of its life, such as slow cranking (your car engine struggles to turn over or takes multiple attempts to turn over), dashboard battery light turning on, dimming headlights, or if your battery is over five years old.

  • How much does a car battery replacement cost?

Costs vary depending on type of vehicle and battery needed, however, if you purchase your battery through VIP we will install your new battery at no charge (some exceptions apply).

All-Season

All-Season tires are versatile and suitable for warm and cool climates, but not recommended for extreme hot or cold weather conditions because of specific rubber components.

All-Weather

Like their name suggests, all-weather tires are versatile and can perform well in a variety of weather conditions and can be severe snow-rated.

All-Terrain

With bigger treads than traditional all-season tires, all-terrain tires allow for both on and off-roading capabilities.

Winter

Winter tires are manufactured to perform well in snow, ice, sleet and other cold weather conditions. Winter tires are typically soft, with an intricate grooved tread pattern — made for holding compacted snow and creating traction — and are severe snow-rated.
