Meet Your Master Mechanic: Michael Francis

“Sometimes you just need to take a really good look under the hood to find the problem,” says Michael Francis, ASE Certified Master Technician at VIP Tire & Service’s Brewer, Maine location.

One of his craziest repair stories deals with a car that kept stalling and blowing fuses. After several repairs at multiple garages, the car arrived for Michael’s care. With just a few minutes exploring under the hood, he discovered a loose (and very visible) wire that was causing all the trouble.  Michael’s trained eye and years of experience led him right to the problem.

As a kid, Michael was always curious about what was happening in the garage. His father was a mechanic, and so Michael always had the knack for and interest in working on cars. He started by working with his dad and then by himself on his first car, a 1991 Ford Escort. With just the manual and some tools, Michael began making improvements and tinkering with his Escort. He’ll admit some of it was improvised, but he learned a lot and really got to understand the fundamentals of what make a vehicle run.

Surprisingly, Michael’s career as a Master Tech wasn’t his first endeavor. Prior to becoming a Master Tech with VIP Tires & Service, he was a residential HVAC tech and even worked in construction. While he enjoyed the labor of creating systems and building things, Michael knew something was missing – and knew exactly what it was. Michael switched his professional gears and returned to his first love, auto mechanics.

Michael Francis recently joined the Brewer location for VIP Tires & Service and is now an ASE Certified Master Technician. It’s been a goal of Michael’s to reach this milestone. He couldn’t be happier about this accomplishment and is most appreciative of VIP’s support to help him accomplish his dream.

Why you can trust Michael Francis as your local auto mechanic:

Michael enjoys what he does, because every day is different and can present new challenges. When you think about bringing your car to a mechanic, you think of the best guy to bring it to, and Michael wants to be that guy, your guy, your mechanic. Michael is eager to help his customers better understand their vehicles and have a positive, professional experience. Have a question?  Michael will be more than happy to explore under the hood with you and explain what’s going on in way that you can understand and trust.
